losfer words

i believe in God and Jesus, i love metal music very much (kinda contradictive isn't it?), but at times i really get embarrased and am losfer words at some things that some of my fellow believers are doing.
here's an example:

you'll get my point....
i mean ... how can you NOT eat shrimp, gambas, lobsters??? you don't know what you're missing ...
it's stupid.

should you feel offended ...

"Aaaaahhh damn we got a lot of people doing a lot of stupid things, thinking a lot of stupid thoughts and if you wanna see one, just look in the mirror" -captain stupid, suicidal tendencies-

alright, before you continue to read this further i need to warn you, the content of this entry is very offensive. should you feel the need to stop reading then i suggest you do it. if you stil are going to continue to read this then i warn you again. don't send me threat, hate mails or whatsoever if you feel offended. i DID warn you ...

here we go ...

a couple of months ago a newspaper decided to place a cartoon picturing somebodies holy priest with a bomb on his headcover. charming ... and at times funny if you get the sarcasm behind it or maybe not. two or three months later the followers of this priest became angry because it is blasphemous to depict the holy priest in any kind of way. ok they are entitled to BUT ... here it becomes nasty ...

they (the followers of this holy priest) started to boycott products that are coming or produced in the land where the newspaper is from and demanded an apology. ok, still reasonable ... then they started to take over a building of an organization which the land of the newspaper is a member of. to take it to the next level they started sending out threats to the citizens of this land.

the newspapers all over world on the other hand decided that they are entitled too place anything in their newspaper because of the freedom of speech. in my opinion ... nice going ... but things have gotten worse. embassies of this particular country are attacked and some are set on fire, their flags are burnt or trampled under ...

let's see the other side ... these followers have a moderate camp and the radical camp. the moderates generally don't agree with what the newspapers are doing. the radicals took it a step further (burning embassies and flags, yelling warchants and stuffs, well maybe doing a wardance too). i have nothing against these followers except for the radical ones ...

they glorify violence, they are 'allowed' to kill in the name of God and they are burning down churches or hospitals and schools but they are getting pissed because somebody put a picture of their holy priest in the newspapers which they don't know how he looked like??????? ok a name is written next to the picture but still that doesn't mean it is him. blasphemous they say, no respect.

i don't see the other followers of another holy priest gettin' mad because their holy priest is pictured in a cartoon. i don't see them attacking embassies and burning flags because a newspaper placed a cartoon in one of its issue. they also have the rule that you should treat the name of God with respect. so why aren't they burning embassies and flags down???

i mean where's the logic in this all? isn't this the same thing as using double standards? the thing they are accusing another country of which they hate so much? since when killing in the name of God is allowed? i don't remember God saying 'if you kill someone in my name you will go to heaven and will be held company by fifty virgins or something?'. what i remember is that we are not allowed to kill each other (which has sadly happened over the course of history).

these kind of folk need to start to use their peabrains and think!! if they are not able to use it then they ought to have a lobotomy. i mean, they just need a little spark to set the sea of oil on fire (which they are literally living on) and it goes *BOOM*. time out!!! think!! and search other ways to get your point accross, don't let yourself be used by somebody with a beard and headcover telling he is the wise one. we are humans, we can think, we know what's right or wrong and it's certainly not destroying other people's properties or lifes.

thank you for reading and letting me rant. cheers!!!

An evening with Dream Theater, 10-10-2005, Amsterdam, Heineken Music Hall

me and a couple of friends were standing outside eating our fast food dinner in 10 minutes (true to the phrase fast food) when the clock striked 8. we rushed inside the heineken music hall to occupy some standing space and once inside, the place was packed!! we then went up the stairs to get to the balcony and we luckily got some space.

the lights went out and the crowd went crazy as the intro tape played the outro of In the Name of God and continued to the intro of The Root of all Evil and there they were James, John, John, Jordan and Mike, on the stage. Dream Theater is back in the Netherlands !!!

Without losing any pace they blasted into the second song, Panic Attack, as i stared awe seeing John Myung playing the intro of the song. After the fourth song, James LaBrie, welcomed the audience and said that the Netherlands holds a special place in their hearts, because of the loyalty of the fans here.

As the show went on it became clear that the main focus on the evening is their 20th anniversary which is showed by the setlist. The band played one song from every album they've put out with the focus on the hard songs.

The band is known for their technical proficiency, which is again displayed as they blend parts from Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamonds and Metallica's Wherever I May Roam in Peruvian Skies.

My personal highlight of the concert came when Jordan Rudess played an improvised version of the intro of Octavarium. This is a song that i've been listening over and over again for a couple of days before the concert. I really love this song and the band played this in its entirety (24 mins!!!), man, i don't have any words to describe this ... but the live version is really, really great ....

As the evening went on and the hours went by, the band played for the encore the first part of Pull Me Under and blend it to the second half of Metropolis Pt.1. I can't believe it's been already 3 hours and still i haven't got enough of them and wanted to see more. Truly a really awesome evening with Dream Theater ....

exorcism

one week has passed since i started doing my graduation internship at Mexx Int'l and now i'm already longing that it is Jan 13th, 2006 (FYI my last day of work)!!! hehehe ... i really hate working behind a desk and staring at the monitor the whole frickin' day.

on a much more lighter note ... katrina. every newspage on the internet that i read, everything is about katrina. there's one song from the heavy metal group Anthrax that keeps playing in my head and it goes like this:

can't stop eating 3x
she's so fat
can't stop eating 3x
she's so fat
6...0...4... KATRINA !!!!!

the song is called 604 lbs ...

ok seriously ...

Katrina ... it is a major disaster for the people living in Louisiana, especially in New Orleans and Biloxi. They're ripped away from their daily lives, living at refugee camps, shelters with no place to return because their home is under water. To add an insult to the injury, the water, that is now flooding those cities, is completely poluted with all the toxic waste the industry has dumped there over the past years (given the fact that there are already 5 casualties because of the toxic water).

OK i'm trying not to sound cold hearted and cynical but my take on this is ... that this is the way mother nature will take her revenge, no, rephrase, this is the way mother nature will take back what it is actually her's. I mean, 20 oil platforms wiped away in the gulf of mexico??? then flooding back all the toxic waste that has been dumped there in all these years. It's like "guys, take this sh*t back, it's yours anyway"

mankind in all it's arrogancy always tries to balance something that is chaos in it's eyes. "oh we need houses, let's cut the forest down cause it's ours anyway"; "we need land so let's dam that river, oh don't forget the sea too". Look what's happening now, forests on fire, major flooding, storms, i tell you mother nature is trying to restore her biological balance by destroying all what is dear (and the not so dear) to mankind.

chaos ... that's mother nature's balance

ok enough with my demon exorcism, for not being able to browse the internet freely at the office hehehehe

hand in my pocket

I was walking in rotterdam, enjoying the free time and the nice weather. Blue and sunny skies, people walking around smiling. It's just another summer day in the Netherlands. Then i felt some trembling inside my trousers ... it was my phone ... i picked it up and it was my girlfriend. Talked with her for awhile and after we said our goodbyes i put the phone back into my pocket. As i did that, i accidentally pushed the skip next button on my mp3-player.

darn ...

just as it was playing my favorite tune, right in the 8:04 mark of a 12:47 song ...

oh well, guess i have to start from the beginning. as i did that, i heard some noises coming from the other pocket, and felt something stinging my upperleg.

my housekeys ...

i pulled them a little bit to put them in a good position so they won't sting me anymore. after i did that, i pulled my hand out of my pocket and my Transport-ID card almost fell on the ground. Fortunately i have some good reflexes to catch it.

okay ... what's next?

Luckily, nothing. I can continue my walk and enjoy my freetime and the weather. Sometimes i wish i was in the old days where i only have to worry about my keys and wallet in my pockets.

loyalty

loyalty, it's a word that has been coming up implicitly in this week. whether it's in something that i have experienced myself or from hearing stories from friends. there were a couple of cases this week that has brought me to writing this week's entry.

the first incident was about a friend of mine (A) who in a way felt that his friend (B) never called him when he's broke. from what i know they always go out together, eating at a restaurant or hangout at a cafe. apparently it happens only when A has money. whenever A is broke, no single call is coming in from B and when A asks B to go out, B always tells him that he's broke too. but then A caught or spotted B at a restaurant or cafe with other people right after he said that he's broke. they're (or were) friends since they started going to college and did a lot of things together. where's your sense of honour and loyalty to your friend if that guy (B) doesn't wanna stick around A who is broke?

the second case tells the story of two lovers who are or should i say one of 'em is a real close friend of mine. he has this girlfriend who he loves very much. if you see them together it's as if they are bound to eternity. at the beginning of the week i received the shocking news that he broke up with his girlfriend for the reasons that she cheated on him, for the second time. i don't know and still don't know about the details but that's what he told me in a nutshell.

the shock came from the fact that i didn't see any signs that they are going to breakup or that one party isn't happy with the relationship. not only that, since i know his girlfriend and we got good acquainted, i had the impression that she was one good, kind and decent girl. ok they were having a long distance relationship so on one side i can understand the difficulties of it. on the other hand it never justifies one to cheat on another because of variety of reasons. how do you expect to be loyal to others if you can't be loyal to your boyfriend. i really feel ... disappointed, sad because i had highly regards about his girlfriend, sorry because this guy really doesn't deserve this. he never hurted a single soul at least from what i know.

the third case is coming from my old neighbourhood. a friend (C) told me that he once got invited to hangout at someone's place (D's). they hung out until in the late hours where C has to stay over for the night because the weren't any trains. ok, so he asked D if he can stay at his place and D agreed. a couple of minutes later a girl (E) showed up and asked D if she can stay over for the night. for your information E is not D's girlfriend and in my opinion they were never even close. D then asked C to look for another place to stay cause he wants E to stay over. i mean WTF!! C asked for it first and he's much closer to D than E, ok i know that E is girl but WTF where's your sense of loyalty and honour to your friend ....

those were the cases that crossed my path this week and it got me thinking. is loyalty a rare commodity nowadays? is it out of fashion to be loyal to each other and much more cooler to ditch a good friend or lover because of god-knows what kind of reasons? it's making me sad really to see those kind of things happen ... loyalty is becoming such a difficult thing to find.
